If I could give more than 5 stars i would. I found this hotel online with excellent reviews. The photos looked lovely and the fact that there were kitchen facilities is what sealed the decision for us to book a stay at the Box House Hotel. We were traveling with our children who have food allergies and I needed to be able to prepare food for them.
We found this to be quite a value considering the cost of regular rooms in Manhattan without the kitchen facilities. We booked a 1 bedroom loft suite at the Box House which slept 4. The pull out couch was actually much more comfortable than I would have thought. The suite was very comfortable, nicely decorated and the kitchen was very well equipped with a stove and full size refrigerator. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The complimentary cab rides were great - we could go to the store and get picked up. We went out to eat one night in the Greenpoint neighborhood. The Box House cab dropped us off and when we were done, it picked us up to go back to the hotel. Singh, (doorman, cab driver) greeted us when we arrived to check in, was the driver of the cab, helped us with our luggage, and even drove us to where the ferry stop was at night before the end of his shift so I could photograph the Manhattan skyline at night.
There is a small gym, the hotel is immaculate and there is even a small coin operated laundry room which was quite a convenience. The Box House is walking distance to all kinds of stores, restaurants, delis and the like.
We would definitely stay at the Box House Hotel again.

Room Tip: we really didn't see other rooms, the one bed loft suite with terrace was perfect for our family.
